I need the controls for Drakan. My game came without the insert, so I don't know what the controls are and I can't find any info for it online.

Hi Lynxy. The controls are all set out in the game - you just have to click O to go to the menu. Is that what you meant?
 Tell me if I've misunderstood or you need more info.

Have you downloaded the 445 patch? You don't need any other patch but if you get that one we can click on a couple of buttons and be standing next to each other in a couple of minutes - in a drakan server. I can show you the moves!
I did a search for the online manual but the link I have is dead. There are the usual moves up for forward, down for backwards and so on. There are combat moves too. I think they're all in your controls menu. There's a link in a thread on this page, which I put up for you - it sets out lots of info on how to install the patch (there's a link to it) and other info like downloaded multiplayer levels, but all you need to do is download and then install the 445 patch. The ones I can remember are: - Clicking left mouse button = fires weapon/slashes sword etc - Right mouse button = blocks attacks, which reduces damage - ctrl is crouch - shift is jump - tap up arrow, then quickly hit attack (left mouse) = forward thrust stab - continously moving right or single tap on right key then separately tap the up quick and quickly hit the attack key (left mouse) = gives a forward thrust stab and this works the same if running left too - continously moving right then very, very quickly tapping the up key with almost no gap, then quickly tap the left mouse (attack) key = a turning right curved stab. This is very good, it does a lot of damage. - continously moving right then very quickly tapping the up key with almost no gap, then quickly tap the left mouse (attack) key = clockwise spinning slash attack. Looks good but not very powerful. - tap up, down, left mouse with virtually no gap, one after the other = sort of half spin slash attack. - tap down, up, attack button (left mouse) again, with extreme speed and hardly no gap between each tap = very powerful and popular 360 degree spin attack - jump (default is shift), crouch (default is right ctrl), attack (left mouse) - very tricky for new players. Tap jump and immediately tap crouch - leave virtually no gap and then leave a slight (very slight) gap before hitting the attack key (default left mouse). This gives the deadly Skull Splitter attack. PS I realised, the thread that has all the details in for downloading everything (which you don't need) is pinned to the top of this board.
There's a link in there for the 445 patch, which will make the game less buggy and give you access to playing online. WARNING - NEVER EVER click the MPLAYER button in Drakan's multiplayer options. Always use the Join Game or Host Game options instead. The MPLAYER one will bugger up your computer and game in my experience because it tries to down grade your game to earlier than the 445 patch and fails. Then it hangs. So don't do it!

Ooo. Okay, thanks. We'll have to arrange to do it one Sunday, as that's about the only time I have to do something like that. Work interferes with that sort of thing during the week and Saturday, I have my kids. Sunday is the only chance I get to breathe. Except that I usually sleep all day Sundays.

LoL! *hands on hips* Look here, missy. It will take you no more than a minute or two to download the 445 patch (you don't need earlier patches before you can install the 445 patch).
Then all you have to do is email me. I'll set up a small server on my modem and I we can spend half an hour online chatting and practising moves. The best way to see it is as a chat room with its own visual world!

 PS - I dunno how I missed this earlier! I've been mucking about surfing for a good idea. *sob* Edit - actually, having said that, I'd quite like to watch Chicago as my sis has loaned me her video of it. So I'll probably be surfing a bit and watching that later on. But we can try again tomorrow if you're not free now.  If you feel like a game you can always email me at the aol account and I'll sign in when I get home. I'm not likely to get home before 7.30 or 8pm tomorrow - which is five hours ahead of NY, if that helps.

I actually just got home, so that's okay. Sometimes I'm home this early, sometimes I'm not. Just kinda depends on the work day, that's why I asked what time you are usually available. There's a 7 hour difference between us. What is the latest you can do?

It all depends from day to day, Lynxy.
The latest would probably something like playing from 8 to 9pm or playing from 9 to 10pm. Though as I say it depends on what I have to do that day and what time I get home at. Btw, I'm not sure when I will get home tonight. It is unlikely to be before 8pm and could be up to a couple of hours later than that. |

Well, until I can download and unzip the patch, I can't play. Every zip file I download gets corrupted. I don't know why. It's very aggravating.
 But as soon as I get it figured out and get the patch installed, I'll let you know.

Nope, don't use download accelerators. And I don't have Winzip. I don't like it coz I can't figure it out. I tried to unzip it with both XP's zip wizard and Norton's Quarterdeck. Neither worked.
 It's something with my system coz when I downloaded it at work, it was fine. Unfortunately, I have no way to get it from work to my home computer. I don't have a zip drive or a cd burner on my work computer.

I dunno. I just downloaded another copy of the patch. I'll give it a shot and if it doesn't work, I'll not be a happy camper. I may have to find another place to download it and extract it and then bring it home. Hope that won't be necessary.

Finally got the files extracted. Now what? Do I just dump the files somewhere in the Drakan folder or is there some sort of executable file I need to click on?

I think you can run it from wherever you downloaded it to. All you have to do is click on the exe file to install it. I probably asks you for the path and/or offers a default. I remember it being very quick and easy. If there is no default when you the run the exe file point it to the drakan main folder/directory.
